Parking Zone!!

The MHS is needing some repairs. The parking lot has not “been” resurfaced in a while. The parking lot overall has lots of bumps and potholes throughout the parking area. We need to get the parking lot fixed. I feel like it will overall make the school look better, but it is also a better chance that a student or teacher does not messing up their car because of the potholes and bumps. I think it would be a great idea that each teacher and student had their own assigned parking spot. That way students are not having to hunt down a parking spot in the morning time. In my opinion, each student needs to have a valid insurance and driver’s license in order to get a parking spot. The school needs to make sure that they are checking for the license and ID before they are given a parking pass. I know that students now are just driving to school with just a permit, and that is just very risky because if they had to get in an accident the insurance company will not cover it and the other student or teacher will have to pay out of pocket even if it was not their fault.

I sat down with Mr. Lindsey and asked him when the parking lot would be finished. He said that this summer the plan is for the parking lot to be finished. “Each student will be issued a parking spot and a parking pass. There will be a senior parking area. Mr. Lindsey did say that seniors will be allowed to paint their own parking spots, but “the paintings will have to be preapproved and a fee will be charged.” I also asked Mr. Lindsey about opening up the gate and putting speed bumps down so that people are not flying through the parking lot. He said “ The back gate can not be reopened. Students travel on campus all throughout the day and having the gate open causes a major safety concern.”
